'Should've Known Better' is the first single from KillerStar's debut album. The band feature many of David Bowie's frequent collaborators, providing inspiration for a video Louder Than War magazine described as "well...a space oddity."
When I first heard the track, I didn’t know exactly what the music video should be…but from my very first listen to Should’ve Known Better I did know that one thing was certain: we were going to space!
From the pulsing synths to the band’s links to a certain Starman, everything about this track screamed sci-fi to me, and, with the shadow of Covid still looming heavily over my mood at the time, I knew I wanted to counter that with something upbeat and fun. Exactly where the idea of being sucked into a 50s B-movie came from, I’m not 100% sure, but I like the idea of it paralleling the double meaning of “looking at the stars,” our hero watching the movie stars on the screen and then later watching actual galaxies hurtle past from the captain’s chair of a goofy spaceship.
(That spaceship interior, by the way, is just a garage, a lot of fairy lights and several gallons of blood, sweat and tears!)
