I wrote and shot Material Girl in the spring of 2018 to premier alongside Shift as its B-movie. Like Shift, I was director and my own DoP though, with no budget and a much smaller crew, I also had to take on further responsibilities, working closely with the actors to come up with new ideas and improvise a lot on set.
The film chronicles the breakdown of Mary's (Gailie Anderson) and Alastor's (Kevin Stemp) marriage when Mary returns home from a business trip only to discover that her husband has fallen in love with a blow up doll. She soon becomes convinced that the doll is trying to kill her and things start to go south quickly...!
